Hi everyone, and welcome back to my blog! I can´t wait for you to read what I´ve been up to during my second week here in Hong Kong.
This week we´ve settled down in our service apartment. Really settled down... It´s nearly just like home! The area is so nice, but unfortunally we were not able to spend time at the beach right by our apartment because of Tyfon Nida. Yes, you heard right. Hong Kong was hit by a tyfon 8 which is the highest rank of a tyfon. I am totally fine and as far as I know, everyone in my town is safe. My dad was home from work on Monday because of the tyfon but later that day when the storm had settled down a bit he went to Shang Hai on a buisness trip, exciting, right? On Wednesday night he came home. My brothers, my mom and I were mostly home because the rain was kind of back and forth. One second it was fine, but the next second the rained poured town. Despite this, we managed to walk in to town for groceryshopping nearly everyday!
Luckily, by the end of the week the tyfon had passed, and on Friday I met up with my new classmate. We have talked over email for about two or three months after her mom (the schools admininistrator) gave me her emailaddress for any questions about school. We spent the afternoon together and we had lunch, visited animal rescue centres (the dogs and cats were SO cute!!), went to the Old Town and then we went to her house and spent the rest of our very fun afternoon there. At about 17:30 her mom drove me home. We had a blast and we are planning on meeting up again next week for sleepover. This makes me so excited to start school!
Yesterday, we spent nearly all day at the beach. Finally! It was quite crowded because of a big dragonboat race. It was a very exciting event to witness, haha! My family rented to paddleboards and a doublekayak and we kind of just paddled around and it was so much fun! I can´t wait to do it again.
Today, we went in to a larger town called Sha Tin to visit the shoppingcentre New Town Plaza for a new backpack for my older brother and lunchboxes. When we arrived we started off with some delicious lunch at Pizza Express and oh my was it yummy! In the menu I ordered I got an american pizza (pepperoni), dough balls with nutella and something called a bambichino. It was explained as a cappuchino without the coffee, but it was basically just hot chocolate in a cappuchino cup. But it was good, haha! So was everything else. My brother found a nice backpack but we had no luck with lunchboxes... Although I did find a laptop case/bag for my new school laptop I´ll be getting soon. It´s just plain black, very simple. It was quite cheap but it most certainly works until I buy a new one. Plus, it matches with my backpack haha.
I had this great idea today that I thought would be great for my blog! After every weekly update I will write three things that I am excited for about next week. It can be certain field trips, exploring a new town or just relaxing at home. And then, you can comment three things that you are excited for about next week! I would absolutely LOVE to hear what you are excited for.
Here is what I´m excited for about next week: My birthday, Back To School preperation, and sleeping over at my new friends house!
Love you so much, xoxo
